Indicted AG investigates local alleged voter fraud

Observations Commentary

So, this legislative session, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is on another crusade against voter fraud. Trouble is, every time I write his name, I have to laugh, because he’s the very same guy who is still under state grand jury indictment for three criminal charges that date back to 2015. He has pled not guilty to two counts of security fraud (first-degree felony) and one count of failing to resister with state securities regulators (third-degree felony).

Subsequent to his arrest, AG Paxton has unsuccessfully tried to quash (nullify or declare invalid) the indictment. His motion to quash has been rejected by the trial judge, the Texas Court of Appeals, and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (Texas’ criminal court of last resort). The Legal Eagle’s trial is now set for some time this year.
