The drug bust last week in Edinburg is still part of an ongoing multi-agency criminal investigation, so the details about it are still sketchy. What kind of drugs, how many, how many arrests? But one thing’s for sure – the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley made off with a haul of its own. Last Wednesday, Edinburg police dropped off to the Food Bank’s main Pharr location approximately 1,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables that had been used by drug runners to try and conceal a load of drugs. An old Valley disguise for drug runners, no? But the ag donations come in cycles, says Food Bank of the RGV CEO Terri Drefke.
